Valley View Farm encompasses almost 200 acres of some of the most beautiful land in central Kentucky. Situated in a secluded valley along the banks of Elkhorn Creek, Valley View offers a uniquely tranquil setting. Large lush green pastures and gently rolling hills encourage horses to run freely. Healthy exercise is achieved naturally, as our horses chase each other, play and enjoy their time “just being a horse.” Our yearling pasture alone is 28 acres, allowing our young athletes plenty of room to roam. Broodmares also enjoy our peaceful setting.

The farm is near Midway, which was named for its “midway” location between Lexington and Frankfort. Immediate neighbors include Airdrie Stud, Adena Springs, Hopewell and Shadwell, and we’re just a short drive to all the major farms of the Lexington area.

When we purchased the farm on Kentucky Derby Day 2000, we had one goal in mind – to create a nurturing environment that would give young horses the best foundation possible for becoming the athletes they were destined to be. After years of boarding our horses on other people’s farms in California and Kentucky, and seeing numerous flaws and conditions we could not control, we decided to take the major step of buying a horse farm.

Capital improvements were made in existing barns, and a third barn was built, as well as new feed and machinery buildings. Fields were reconditioned, new fencing was added, a European style free-movement exerciser was installed, and the old road was paved. This “diamond in the rough” has begun to shine, and our commitment to continued hard work and improvements will ensure that it sparkles as a professional, first-class facility.

The farm also has a rich history and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was noted on John Filson’s first map of Kentucky in 1784 as the site of Colonel Marshall’s office. And according to the book, “Antebellum Architecture in Kentucky,” the farm boasted “the finest stone house in Kentucky for its time.” Although the great stone house burned down in 1961, its magnificent ruins continue to watch over the site and provide an impressive setting for our outdoor events.

The next time you are in the area, please give us a call. We’d love to have you visit our farm in person. In the meantime, please enjoy a video tour of our “little piece of heaven on earth.”
